John Richard Savage passed away suddenly at his residence on Monday, August 26th, 2024 at the age of 70.
John dedicated his life to service; to his family, to the military, and to the Masons. He is predeceased by his former wife, Shelley, who is survived by their daughter Brooke (TJ) and grandchildren Poppy and Ellie. He will be dearly remembered by his second wife Toni, and their children Benjamin (Victoria), Brynn, and Kylie.
He was a beloved brother of the late Patricia (survived by Bob), late Glenn (survived by Jude), Colleen (Steve), Robert (Helen), and Kathy (Fabian).
He was a cherished uncle, cousin, and friend to many. As a PERI in the armed forces, as a Past Master of the Coronation Masonic Lodge #466, and as a long time president of the Elmvale Maple Syrup Festival, he made a large impact on his community.
I have penned a comment or two myself, regarding my good friend JR. As I proof read it,I realize it is about four paragraphs long and most likely boring to most of youse readers.(I always spell "youse" cause it is incorrect on purpose). Having said that,I don't know how to put my novel here, for all to read.
So,how about..... We shared duties in Chillawack,Golan Heights,Namibia, and Borden during my career,if not more, but I considered him a friend, not just an associate.I recognized and appreciated his professionalism as a PERI and SrPERI.
We bonded over one of his first glasses of wine(sometimes called yine in Jewish?Yiddish?)At the UN beach club at the Gaza Strip(1987?).Oh ya, again during the wine to…
So sad to hear about John. He was a friend and a solid person. See you on the other side my friend. Perry
