A member of the Lord Strathcona Horse Regiment in 1934, he was seconded to the RCMP and later with the Manitoba School Board. A master of Indian Clubs, gymnastics and hockey, he had served in Calgary, PT Wing (RCS of I); RMC and various bases. He retired in 1960 as an MWO to become the Chief Recreation Specialist at the Calgary Correctional Institute, where he remained until his death.
