OBIT - PORTER, Gerald Frank

16 September 1935 - 24 May 2020.


Sadly we announce the passing of our beloved Jerry. He died peacefully in his sleep with has family around him,

Jerry was born 16th September 1935 in Saskatoon Sk. He had a successful and enjoyable 27yr, career in the Navy. Most of his career as a PERI, Physical Education and Recreation Instructor. He was passionate about all sports, especially football, rugby, squash and hockey. After retirement from the RCN he drove a city bus for the city of Saskatoon for 13 years. After retiring from this last position, he and his wife Arlene returned to Victoria to be near family.

Jerry was an avid cyclist and golfer. His greatest joy was having family gatherings and meeting with friends.

Jerry will be very much missed by his wife of 63 yrs, Arlene, and his sons Neil (Laurey), Shawn (Donna), Bob (Caroline) and daughter Terri…

MILLER, Ernie (28 Feb 1927-10 Aug 2019)

Lieutenant-Colonel(Retired) RCAF.Peacefully, surrounded by family at Stoneridge Manor, Carleton Place on Saturday, August 10, 2019.

Born outside Saint John, New Brunswick, he grew up on a homestead farm in northern Saskatchewan, in Wingham, and Woodstock, Ontario. Following graduation from the University of Western Ontario in 1949, he began his career in the field of sports and recreation management, first in Wingham, then with the Royal Canadian Air Force, culminating in the directorship of the Department of Physical Education, Recreation and Amenities after 37 years.

His work took him to postings in Alberta, France, Ontario and Quebec.

In 1989, he retired to devote himself to his interests in gardening, walking, writing (memoirs), genealogy and enjoyment of varied family activities. He was also athletic and active in various sports throughout his life. He was a regular member of St. James Anglican Church, Carleton Place. Survived by his devoted wife, Marion (nee Bateman).…

TWOMEY, Dan

Just heard (26 Feb 2020) from Bart Fuerwentges that Dan had passed away within the past few days. He got the news from Bill Desaulniers yesterday.

We are sad to announce that on February 25, 2020 we had to say goodbye to Daniel Michael Twomey (Peterborough, Ontario). Family and friends can light a candle as a loving gesture for their loved one. BROCKLEY, Alan Richard

Alan Richard Brockley (February 6, 1948 – January 19, 2020) passed away peacefully with his wife Debbie by his side.Al served for 27 years in the Canadian Armed Forces, retiring as Chief Petty Officer in 1993. A resident of Yuma for 20 years, Al was Activities Director at The Palms RV Resort for the past 10 years. He was involved with many Yuma charities including Crossroads Mission, Special Olympics, Saddles of Joy, and the Yuma Cancer Resource Center.Born in New Brunswick, Canada, Al was pre-deceased by his parents Alfred and Elva (Short) Brockley. He is survived by his devoted wife Debbie, his brother Lindsay Campbell, and is sadly missed by his Palms family and many friends.A Celebration of Life was held at 2:00 on February 6 at The Palms RV Resort, 3400 South Ave 7E. Altho I didn't know Al, his mother Elva Short was a neighbour of mine in Sunny Brae NB many moons ago. Jack, her brother and I used to play together.
