Wally was former member of the RCEME who remustered into the trade in the early 1960s. He qualified on the  Army Group 3 PTI course in 1962 and moved around the country serving in Gagetown, RMC and other bases. He was a good gymnast an excellent instructor and an avid fisherman. He retired as an MWO and was a very active and longtime member of the Trenton Royal Canadian Legion Branch 110 having served two terms as President.
