In Joe’s youth he was a gifted athlete, competing in high diving, semi-pro baseball and hockey, football, and gymnastics.   He became an excellent golfer representing PEI on the senior golf team for several years.  He served as a Physical Training Instructor in the Royal Canadian Navy for 23 years, coaching football, handball, water polo, hockey and gymnastics to young military recruits.  After leaving the military, Joe worked as the Summerside Golf Club’s Grounds Superintendent.  After retiring, Joe became an avid artist creating paintings, woodcarvings and pencil sketches while continuing his passion for the game of golf.

For 65 years Dot and Joe were in love.  They golfed together, entertained often, traveled; they did everything together.  Dot credits Joe’s love and support throughout the years for making her the woman she is today.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the staff of 3West Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Hospital for their dedication to dad’s care over the past nine months.
