Paul joined the RCN at age 18 and proudly served his country for 27 years including service in the Korean war. Paul served in many postings, but will be remembered most as the career manager for PERIs. Following retirement from the Navy, Paul joined the RCMP as a special constable assigned to Parliament Hill. Shortly thereafter, he transitioned to the House of Commons Security Services and was later appointed Assistant Deputy Sergeant-at- Arms before retiring in 1994.
