WILLETTS, Fran. ? - 1991

Fran was a very proud W.D. (RCAF, Womens Division). She was trained as a Recreation Specialist at RCAF, Aylmer, Ontario. Fran was mainly interested and highly skilled in a number of Arts & Crafts. Her forte was organizing and administrating leisure time activities for Base personnel, often, at the expense of her own normal off duty time. For most of her career she found herself as the lone female on a PE&R staff. She often had to “lock horns” with the male members of the staff – regardless of the rank or position - to make her point. She was always regarded as a team player and will be remembered as a strong advocate for the importance of a well rounded Base PE&R program. Sgt Fran Willetts spent 25 years serving her country finally retiring at CFB Trenton in 1983. She remained in the area where she operated her own ceramic arts & crafts business until her death in 1991 from cancer.
