This major tournament, held every four years, hosted 170 teams from over 12 countries, with 7 of Canada’s provinces represented; there were 55 European teams. An Ottawa based team, the Ottawa Ruins, were the champions in their “over 50″ division that included teams from New York, Michigan and four Canadian teams. This team was anchored by six former RMC Varsity team members all of whom continue to play regularly; from left to right: Dave Hall (class of 77) now living in Toronto, Dickie Mohns (class of 75) now living in Ottawa, Marc Desjardins (class of 80) now living in Ottawa, Marc Ouellet (class of 74) now living in Ottawa, Chris Ouimet (class of 73) former BPERO now living in Comox BC and Ken MacKenzie (class of 79) now living in Ottawa. By all accounts, in this reunion of sorts, the ex-Redmen played their usual tenacious style to lead the team to the cup and the socializing afterwards also measured up to standards of years gone by!
