In Memoriam, Thomas "Deac" Hendrican

Tom "Deac" Hendrican passed away on December 29th, 2023 surrounded by family. Tom was born August 12, 1936, in Pictou, Nova Scotia and from a young age established himself as a skilled athlete, gaining a reputation in multiple sports and eventually being inducted into the Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame for basketball.


A proud Canadian, tom served his country for 30 years as a Physical and Recreation Instructor (PERI) with the RCAF...

So sad to hear about Deac"s passing. He and I go back over 60 years to the late 1950's early 1960's at Manning Depot, St. Jean. Deac was a trainee at the time til he came on staff at the Gym. Dudley Hill was our PERO at that time. He and I were in or early twenties and along with some other young, single staff members had some hilarious times. At one time Deac and I bought a 1932 Chevrolet from Roy Wetherbee for $10.00. A real "chick magnet." The only problem was that it was in the middle of winter and didn't have a heater among other things. We also used to crash functions going on around the base…
